Trespass Movie Review
The movie Trespass gives a chilling example of how technology can be exploited by unscrupulous people to suit their cruel intentions. This movie features Nicolas Cage and Nicole Kidman as the movie’s top stars playing husband and wife living in a very posh and modern house with their teenage daughter. Directed by Joel Schumacher this single setting movie is shot primarily at the family’s house. Though equipped with the latest in security equipment, the house was invaded by four money starved criminals. And this is where the movie’s plot is set.
As a diamond trader, Kyle Miller (Cage) and his family live a very privileged life. He moves, talks and lives like a millionaire. But when criminals invade his home and terrorize his family, he is able to use his skill as a trader. He engages his captors in a negotiation and tries to protect his family by not giving in to their demands, thereby maintaining the upper hand and keeping them in a bargaining position. The movie stretches this simple story into a full length movie keeping the audience excited as the struggle between the captors who want to get hold of Kyle’s money, and Kyle’s determination not to let them have it whilst also keeping his family alive. Though the movie got mixed reviews among critics, I did enjoy watching the 1 hour and 30 minute film. The movie may drag for some viewers sometimes but in the end it builds to a nice climax, letting the situation escalate and by this device revealing the character’s true nature and making you hope that Kyle will in the end triumph over the criminals.
